Information
Cetirizine is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of perennial rhinitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. It is also used to treat symptoms of hives, including itching and rash. It works by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.

Dirctions
Take Cetirizine exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.
Take each dose with a full glass of water.
Cetirizine can be taken with or without food.
Cetirizine is usually taken once daily. Follow your doctor's instructions.
Store Cetirizine at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Side Effects
Drowsiness, fatigue and dry mouth may occur. In children, stomach pain and vomiting may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, persistent fatigue, mental/mood changes.
Cetirizine contains lactose, if you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking Cetirizine.

Precautions
Cetirizine may have minor or moderate influence on the patient's ability to drive and use machines. It may also potentiate the effects of alcohol and CNS depressants (such as sleeping tablets, antidepressants). Use cautiously with these drugs and do not take with alcohol. Also use cautiously if you have any of the following medical conditions: urinary retention, depression, mental disorders, sleep disturbance, seizure, prostate enlargement, kidney or liver disorder.
